Egg: This egg is bigger than EIA1, and the relatively smaller, and bright amber oil globule, should serve to separate the two. One day post collection fine black chromatophores formed on the edge of the entire length of the developing larva (B), and 24 hours later, obscured the myomeres (C). The egg failed to hatch, but the larva was dissected out and successfully barcoded.
Larva: The egg shown above did not hatch, but an egg collected 10 September 2000, measuring 2.11 mm with an amber oil globule of 530µm with dark pigment, initially thought to be Lichia amia (EIA1), is probably this species and is tentatively included here (the specimen failed to barcode)
This egg has only been recognised twice, in September 2000 and September 2007, the former in retrospect, each as a single egg. The latter larva was barcoded and matched 3 locally collected adult Polyprion americanum (BOLD).
